Requirements to get on the New Hampshire CNA Registry

Fees

The application requires the payment of a non-refundable fee of $63, and a background and fingerprint check fee of $48.25.

Minimum Age

Some training schools will allow 16 years old to join the training program.

Minimum Education

Although it is not usually required, some training school may require to have a high school diploma or a GED.

Training Requirements

To qualify you must undertake 46 hours of classroom theory/lab and 60 hours of clinical for a total of 106 hours of coursework, with a recognised training program.

Competency Test

To be certified on the New Hampshire Nurse Aide Registry, you must pass both the Written and Clinical Competency Testing, with a recognised provider.

Background Check

You must carry out a criminal history check and fingerprints check. Please visit the Registry’s Background Check page for further information on how to complete the checks. If you are a NH resident, please follow Option B. If you are not an NH resident, please follow Option C. You will need to pay a fee of $48.25.

Where to apply

You must apply online, via the Registry Online Portal.

Required Documentation

You must upload one of the following three options:

  1. LNA Education Certificate; or
  2. Official transcript with completion of Nursing Fundamentals Course within 5 years
    of the application date (sent from the School), or,
  3. Letter from Nursing Program verifying completion of Nursing Fundamental Course
    within 5 years of the application date (sent from the School)

You must also upload your Final Report of Written and Clinical Competency Testing Results.

Restrictions

If you have been found of abuse or other gross misconduct, you might not be able to practice as a LNA.

How to keep your license on the New Hampshire CNA Registry

Stay Active

The certification period is for 24 months, and you must renew every 2 years by providing verification that you have (1) completed 24 contact hours of continuing education and (2) worked a minimum of 200 hours under the supervision of a licensed nurse, during the 24-month time frame.

Renew

To renew your application, you must log into to the Registry Online Portal and follow the instructions.

Reactivate your expired license

If your license expired less than a year ago, you must complete the Reinstatement Application Form and either email it or mail it to the office (see addresses below in the contact details). You must pay the reinstatement fee of $63.

If your license expired over a year ago, you must complete the initial application online, through the Registry Online Portal.
